100g skein of 100% Welsh yarn, dyed in collaboration with Owl About Yarn in two colourways: Dôl (meadow) and Ar lan y môr (seaside).

Dôl (meadow) is a variegated colourway in deep green, mauve and purple and calls to mind the spring flowers you find in Welsh meadows at this time of year.

Ar lan y môr (seaside) is a variegated colourway in green, yellow and blue and recalls the view from the front on Barry Island across the grass verge, over the sand and out to sea.

Cartref Yarn is made entirely within Wales, from sheep to skein. Comprising approximately 67% Welsh Mule and 33% Welsh Bluefaced Leicester. It is bouncy and has a lovely hand, but also feels substantial and warm. Each 4-ply skein is 100g and has approximately 361m/395yards. Each DK skein is 100g and has approximately 206m/225yds Perfect for garments and accessories. Please also look at the other colours we have available in the range, as it knits up so beautifully in colourwork. The stitch definition is also very good for cables and other more intricate patterns. For examples knitted in our double knit yarn, please see the patterns that we offer for sale.

The oatmeal colour of the undyed yarn means that the dyed colourways are all the more interesting and has wonderful depth of colour. Kettle dyed and more solid than semi solid, but due to the dyeing process and the nature of the yarn there will be subtle variations in the colour through the skein. As with any hand dyed yarn, we recommend alternating skeins if you are knitting more than a single skein item. This is to mingle any minor differences between skeins. We dye in small, 5 skein batches, so please be aware that if you buy more than five skeins, they will be from different dye lots. However, we will do our very best to ensure that they match.

This yarn is hand dyed with professional grade acid dyes and then rinsed after the dyeing process. However, please hand wash gently to preserve the colour (and to avoid felting) and please be aware that there may be a small amount of dye bleeding out in the first wash. Drying in direct sunlight can also fade the colour over time, so where possible, please avoid.

Please bear in mind that whilst every effort is made to ensure the photograph accurately reflects the yarn, colour monitors do vary.

Shipping

Where items are already dyed, we aim to ship items out within three working days of sale. If you need the item promptly please mention this when buying and we will do our best to help. If yarn is dyed to order, please allow 14 days before mailing.

We send everything by Royal Mail - within the UK by first class mail (unless a supplement is paid), and all overseas packages will be sent by airmail. Please bear in mind that overseas shipping times can vary widely from seven days to a month or more, dependent on world events and customs control when leaving and entering countries.

We always obtain proof of posting, but will not mail by 'signed for' services unless a postal supplement is paid. Therefore parcels are only insured to a maximum of £20 value. If your order is over this amount and you'd rather pay a little more for more postal insurance, please choose to ship "Signed For" (within the UK) or "Tracked and Signed" (internationally).

We cannot deal with any claims for lost parcels until 20 WORKING (Mon - Fri) days have passed for UK orders, 20 working days for European orders and 25 working days for International orders. These are the guidelines set by Royal Mail and we cannot deal with missing parcels until this time has elapsed. Once a claim has been made we will arrange to send you a replacement, an alternative if no longer available or a refund.

A CN22 form has to be completed for all orders outside the EU and you are responsible for any import duties or taxes incurred on receipt of the parcel into your country. We will not falsify the customs label to avoid import tax. If you wish to buy multiple items and want to avoid this tax, it may be cheaper to split your order and pay postage charges on two packages.
